Goals for the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium
(1) Maximize efficiency of stormwater education efforts in the northeastern coastal region of South Carolina by using a regional/watershed approach. *In the future, it may be appropriate to consider integrating this effort throughout the Waccamaw River Basin and coastal southeastern region in North Carolina.
(2) Help local MS4s to meet NPDES Phase II Permit requirements for public stormwater education and outreach and illicit discharge detection by making local educational resources and service providers (CCU, Clemson, NI-WB NERR and Waccamaw Riverkeeper) readily accessible.
(3) Facilitate collaboration among local service providers to best meet the educational needs of local entities.
(4) Develop a cohesive regional stormwater education plan that capitalizes on local training resources and meets the needs of local MS4s; *Create a resolution and seek formal buy-in (in the form of official resolutions) from local MS4s who choose to participate in the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium
(5)Create a model for collaborative stormwater education that can be presented and applied throughout the state and beyond
