- October 20-22, 2006 - Karen Fuss and Nick Gadbois of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy will be presenting a concurrent session on watersheds and regional stormwater issues and solutions at the SC Marine Educators Association and Georgia Association Marine Educators annual conference.
- October 12, 2006 -The North Inlet-Winayh Bay CTP, in partnership with the Campus and Community Sustainability Initiative at Coastal Carolina University, hosted High Performance Building, II *View agenda and presentations
- October 4, 2006 - Karen Fuss of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy presented a 1 ˝ hour stormwater education workshop to 30 residents of Cypress Keys neighborhood in Horry County. *View presentation
- September 30, 2006 - Karen Fuss partnered with 2 local teachers and hosted a one-day teacher workshop called The Watershed Approach: Your Connection to the Ocean. Twenty-two teachers, who teach over 1,700 NC and SC students, attended this workshop which was funded through a grant with the Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence – Southeast *View agenda
- September 14, 2006 - Susan Libes of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy directed a bus tour illustrating local stormwater challenges and solutions including discussions of stormwater issues within the Kingston Lake Watershed. *View agenda, presentations, and photos
- August 15, 2006 - Over 90 residents from The Lakes neighborhood in Horry County attended a 1 ˝ hour stormwater education workshop presented by Karen Fuss of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy and Dan Hitchcock of Clemson University. *View agenda and presentations
-Four Consortium-related events took place the week of June 5th, 2006: 1. June 5 & 6 -Two training opportunities for homeowners, held at two separate locations on the Grand Strand, showcased low-tech strategies for stormwater management and featured design and installation demonstrations for managing polluted runoff. *View the Informational flyer and agendas

June 7 - Low Impact Development in Practice - Case Studies in Quality Growth at the Waccamaw Campus of Coastal Carolina University in Litchfield, SC Hosted by the North Inlet-Winyah Bay Coastal Training Program, *In partnership with: Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Watershed Academy, SC Sea Grant Extension, and Clemson Extension Service *view Agenda and Registration Flyer
3. June 8 - A bi-annual meeting of the CWSEC was held on at the Atlantic Center at Coastal Carolina University. *view minutes
- Karen Fuss of the Waccamaw Watershed Academy presented the CWSEC as a model for regional collaboration for stormwater education at The Coastal Society meeting in St. Pete Beach, FL in mid- May. *view Karen's presentation

1/27/06 - Important Upcoming Events: 1. The Waccamaw River Conference - Saturday, February 4th; this year's theme: “Successful Preservation on the Waccamaw, What Has Been Done – What Can Be Done!!!” Where: Conference Center on the Myrtle Beach campus of Horry –Georgetown Technical College (former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base) When: February 4, 2006. 9/15/05 - The Final Year 1 Activity Plan is now available on-line. The core education partners have been working steadily to accomplish priority tasks.
6/15/05 - The CWSEC met at Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday, June 1st. Following the morning meeting, the CWSEC hosted a press conference to feature the public signing of the Resolution in Support of Regional Collaboration. Stormwater managers and political officials from each of the participating MS4 communities were on hand to endorse the Resolution. *View minutes from the June 1, 2005 CWSEC meeting.
4/1/05 - Four of the MS4 participants in the CWSEC (Horry County, Conway, N. Myrtle Beach, and Georgetown County) have approved the Consortium's resolution in support of a collaborative approach to regional stormwater education. All five of the MS4 participants in the Consortium have approved funding to support an environmental educator who will be hired through the Waccamaw Watershed Academy at Coastal Carolina University's Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies. *View the position announcement
3/4/05 - Sue Sledz, Executive Director of Murrells Inlet of 2007, has joined the circle of core education providers in the CWSEC. MI 2007 is actively engaged in water quality education for K-5 audiences in Georgetown and southern Horry counties. The MI 2007 staff visit classrooms and team up with Georgetown County Environmental Services to offer programs at the county landfill site to reach a target of 1,000 students each year.
1/05/05 - The CWSEC has drafted a resolution in support of a collaborative approach to regional stormwater education that each of the MS-4 communities represented by the Consortium has agreed to deliver to their respective councils.
11/15/04 - The second meeting of the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium was held on October 25th at the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies at Coastal Carolina University. The priority tasks outlined at this meeting include: 1. a revision of the Regional Stormwater Education Strategy document 2. the drafting of a resolution to support regional stormwater education efforts that will be presented to each of the Consortium's member MS4 communities 3. the creation of a Phased Education Work Plan for the next 1 to 3 years *View minutes from the October 25, 2004 meeting
9/18/04 - Plans for the second meeting of the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium are in the works. We will be emailing the meeting announcement, draft Stormwater Education Strategy document for review, and a link to our on-line Needs Assessment shortly.
7/1/04 - SC DHEC will be co-hosting the Getting in Step workshop on October 13, 2004 at the Columbia Conference Center in Columbia, SC. The Getting in Step Program is an EPA-endorsed 6-step program, targeted at MS4 communities and watershed organizations for designing and implementing effective outreach. This program addresses the public education and outreach minimum control measures of the Phase II Stormwater program as well as the how-to's of watershed-wide outreach. 6/24/04 - The first meeting of the Coastal Waccamaw Stormwater Education Consortium was held on June 22 at Coastal Carolina University's Atlantic Center. *View minutes from the June 22, 2004 meeting
