The NIWB NERR has partnered with the Belle W. Baruch Foundation/Hobcaw Barony and Clemson University’s Belle W. Baruch Institute for Coastal Ecology and Forest Science to provide educational opportunities to our selected partner school, Pleasant Hill Elementary in Georgetown, SC.
About HPP The HPP was established as part of a federal GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) grant that also includes state funding and business contributions. The program identifies eligible K-12 schools and pairs them with community businesses to provide unique opportunities for improving academic achievement.
What's Next Our goals are to provide environmental education programs on site and in the classroom, training opportunities for teachers, and special programs to increase parent and community involvement in the school. Some great ideas are in the works:
Please check the education updates on this website to learn more and follow our progress.
