Each volunteer monitoring group participating in Estuary-Net will be required to submit metadata to their watershed coordinator and home page site prior to submitting values to
their water quality monitoring,
macroinverebrate, intertidal, or submerged aquatic data tables. Metadata describes the data presented in a given dataset. It is data about data. Metadata provides information on the refinement of
measurements, procedures used, site descriptions, duration of data sets, contacts and quality of the data.
